We offer boarding with playtime included. We feel that every
dog needs to get outside every day at least two times. Even
if they don’t feel like playing, they still need to
stretch their legs and check on the weather. Boarding rates are very competitive. Discounts are given for multi-dog families. We charge by the day. Check in day counts as a day no matter what time you
check in, am or pm. You are not charged for the day if you
check out in the morning.

We offer bathing. Playing outside and with other dogs is fun.
It can also be dirty. Dogs are like kids, most like to get
dirty. That’s ok, it washes off. Bath prices range from
$15 to $40 depending on size of dog and type of coat.
We also offer nature walks. This involves going outside our
fences to explore the property. When we do this, the dog must
wear a harness (provided) for safety reasons. We have a lot
of wildlife in this area: squirrels, rabbits, birds, wild
turkey, deer and an occasional coyote. These critters leave
their scents which are fascinating to the dogs. There is no
time limit to the walk. Some dogs would rather sightsee and
some would rather “smell see”. We do what the
dog wants to do -- as long as it’s safe.

We administer basic meds at no extra charge. This includes:
pills, drops, and ointments. If your dog requires bandage
changes, injections or something more involved, we can discuss
these needs when you make your reservation.

First
Time Boarders:
New dogs settle in better if dropped of in the morning. If that
is not possible, please come right at 4:00 so they have as much
time as possible to settle in. Items from home such as stuffed
animals, Kong, rope toy, etc. are ok if that’s what they
play with at home and have not had any trouble with them. We
do not give “stinky treats” such as cow hooves or
pig ears. They make the kennel stink and make other boarders
jealous. We supply bowls, bedding and food.
Food:
Please let us know what food your dog is used to eating at home.
We will provide something as close as possible or you may bring
your own. If bringing food, please separate it into portions
and label each baggie with your dog’s name. Please don’t
feed your dog “guilt” treats before leaving home.
This tends to upset their system and make them stressed. We
have fun at Country Kennel. You should not feel guilty or be
stressed. Remember, dogs pick up on our feelings. It’s
important not to make them anxious. A quick goodbye at drop
off is best.
General
Info:
Dogs act differently at the kennel than they do at home. Some
are quieter, some are noisier. Some that chew several rawhides
per week at home may not touch them at the kennel. Some that
don’t eat at home eat better at the kennel possibly due
to perceived competition or increased activity level. Others
that eat well at home don’t eat much here because they
would rather play than eat. Remember, the kennel has lots of
sights, sounds and smells that keep them keyed up more than
at home. Therefore, they sleep more here and get tired just
by being here.
Group Playtime:
We are very careful when choosing dogs for a play group. We
start new dogs off with a dog we know very well. We keep notes
on who your dog‘s friends are. If his particular friends
are not here next time, we can find someone who is similar in
personality, sex, size, etc. to match with him. If your dog
has ever had an issue with any dog, please tell us. Some are
afraid of little ones. Others are afraid of big ones. Some may
be afraid of a certain breed. They are as different as we are.
The more insight you share with us, the better the visit will
be. If you do not want your dog to play with others, he does
not have to. Please let us know your wishes.

Emergencies:
Please provide a phone number where we may reach you if we have
a question. Also, please provide the name and number of a local
person who has permission to pick up your dog. Anything can
happen: maybe you are delayed, maybe we’ve had a storm
that damages the kennel, or heaven forbid maybe you don’t
make it back. This person must also be able to settle your account
at time of pick up.
If your dog requires veterinary attention while boarding, we
will try to contact you first, then your vet. If that is not
possible or feasible, we will contact our vet. If that doesn’t
work, we will contact an emergency vet. We treat all dogs as
if they are our own. If we would take ours to the vet for this
same situation, we will gladly take yours. You are responsible
for all vet bills and transportation fees. |
